OK, I am REALLY super annoyed.
I added some person to my friend's list a couple of months ago, they were posting away about every day stuff about their life, etc.
And TODAY, she posts this.
Spam. Spam on my fucking friend's list. mtbandit, I believe you mentioned something about this the other day? Jeepers holy Christmas, I'm disgusted.
I am livid. Can I report her to LJ Abuse? Will anybody care? I doubt it, knowing their track record.
I've had bots add me recently, and whatever, but this person was posting about their life for months, and now this?
THIS IS NOT A GOOD ERA FOR LJ, SUP.
Thank you, drive through.
ETA: Can LJ do anything to me if I post real foul pornography to her comments page in retaliation? :) |

I'm not someone who has any illusions about growing older; I mean, the grey hairs don't bother me when I find them. I'm 33, I'm fine with that. I'm lots closer to 40 than I am to 20.
But I must admit that finding a kid on Facebook that I changed diapers on what feels like not-that-long ago, holding a beer up in her picture and behind the wheel of a car in another? Makes me feel like a wretched old hag in ways that I've never felt before. Cripes. |

Happy mother's day to all the mamas on my list.
I took my own mama out for lunch today, and we had fiddlehead and asparagus soup. It's certainly a sign of spring that I've eaten asparagus every day lately, and that every journal post/Facebook status update is about asparagus :) |

Comparative asparagus; on the right is ordinary asparagus. On the left is the giant one I picked up at the heirloom vegetable farm. Because I can't take a photo to save my life, you are unable to see the deep purple hue this has. I think you can tell that it's huge and thick though :) How am I ever going to eat regular asparagus again? :) |

When a twenty minute walk with the dog turns into a two hour visit, you know you have good neighbours.
I get looked at funny sometimes, living downtown with renters, but it's been nine years and I have some great neighbours, including my darling kinder182, and I love the people here.
I got invited to volunteer tonight for the Folk Arts Festival.....hmmm. It's two days. I'm thinking about it, but I just don't have a lot of free time, and what little I do I like to devote to birds and wine :) |

[May. 7th, 2008|10:29 pm] |
Oh, hai, you no works today, just scratches for me.

Roxy is afraid of the ceiling fan when I turn it on in my office. (It sounds stupid to call it my office, when all it is a glorified storage room with cuddle beds and a desk, but nevertheless.) She hides under the glass topped desk and peers at it. The blender scares her too.
The blender was on because Mike made asparagus risotto this morning and that's what I ate for breakfast. Guess who has asparagus pee?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, I need to swear. DAMNIT ALL TO HELL AND BACK!
(You so know why I'm saying this.)
Well, put a fork in me, I'm done.

I hate being ignored. |

Oooooooh, Jason, honey, that did NOT go well! I think Syesha might just outlast you!
I still think that overall he gave better performances and far more interesting ones than she did, and I hope people vote based on that. She improved greatly the last couple of weeks, but not enough to outpace him, IMHO. His stuff and style stands out more. But yeah, the Tambourine Man sucked (although I kinda liked I Shot The Sherrif with his dreads flying even if it wasn't terribly great), and since Cowell hates Bob Dylan it wasn't going to fly with him no matter what.
I think he just wants to go home. Shit. I have loved his stuff. I will be bummed if he goes. I dig his funky laid back style and his goofy interviews. I knew he wouldn't win (and if Archuleta wins I will be SO bummed, Cook so far and above should win), but I hate the way he's been given the shaft too. If he goes home, I'm done for the year.
However, I will have [ Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<a _through.mp3">') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.] Oooooooh, Jason, honey, that did NOT go well! I think Syesha might just outlast you!

This week was a first for me on LJ; I got my first 'friend' add where it was a bot advertising something (which I promptly banned, of course), and where I got a spam text message via LJ. Anyone else had this? I guess if it happens again I will take my phone number out of there. Which sucks. I like text messages from you all.
So, get to it, would you?
I also am having a weird thing with Google search; if you search for something and then click the link, you get redirected at least twice to stupid search engine garbage sites that are only vaguely related to what you are looking for. It's really getting annoying but I don't know what to do about it.
However, I am happy on today's post because the psycho downstairs has been evicted and is mostly moved out.
Anyway. The most important part of my post today is to remind you all to VOTE FOR JASON CASTRO! Even if you don't like him, do it to spite that no-apology bitch Abdul :)
ETA: I look like hell in all the pictures from the weekend (I was damp and on 4 hours sleep, whaddaya want?), but have a Rose Breasted Grosbeak instead, who is far prettier than me :)

I went bird banding with catsarah and sassy_fae this morning. It was good but got wet later. catsarah tried to lick a dark-eyed junco (which didn't really exist according to the head bander as it was too late in the season for it to be there) she was holding (which she does to check their flavour, I guess) and got kissed by it instead.

I saw my first meadowlark today, and tried to play with a kildeer but it ran away.
I am also an intrepid spotter of a bald's eagle's nest complete with bald eagle sitting in said nest, and thus saw my first bald eagle-EEEK!! (Although it must be said that catsarah knew it was nesting around there first.)
At some point there will be pictures of today's trip, however as I am a dumb fuck I didn't bring my own camera. However, there is a shot of a damp me waltzing through a field with an armload of angry cowbirds that I must post when I get it from catsarah, providing I don't look too hideous. Although, how good could I possibly look in that situation? |

OK, I haven't written about this yet, but it's time to talk about Paula Abdul's craziness this week.
I'm talking, of course, about how she decided to critique Jason Castro's second song before he had even sung it.
Of course, I am rooting for Jason so I am biased, but even if it happened to a contestant I didn't like, even dopey Brooke with her pouts, I'd still think it was shitty. I won't speculate on whether she was reading from scripted comments or not, and of course she can make a mistake just like anybody(even though it must be pointed out that this is just another in the long list of strange behaviours of hers).
However....she should have apologized to Jason on the spot for that. As it is, he had to go perform his second song after that, basically getting his confidence hit by a truck, and of course it wasn't very good. However, that prick Simon Cowell knew this fact and could have said "Well, it wasn't very good, but you obviously had a bit of a setback". Instead of telling Jason he didn't recognize him anymore.
Paula is the one who is unrecognizable now. I honestly don't know what her problem is, but I watched many clips of her in season 5, and she was rational then, mostly. She's not a well spoken person, and that's I think at least part of the reason why her comments come out a bit off the wall (but she told David Archuleta earlier on that she wanted to hang him from her rearview mirror, for crying out loud). I rather like her generally, but this is just too much.
She and Cowell owe Castro an apology, no question about it. I'm glad at least his fans rallied and voted, he deserved that much. |

I'm in a fine mood today ;)
We might be getting another pug. This is a big might; a pug friend of ours is going out of country in the fall for a few months and hers will be staying with us, but she's considering just giving him to us and sharing custody as her hours are long and he mopes a lot. It will depend entirely on how he and Samson get along, naturally, but he's about the same age as He Who Must Be Catered To, so it's not as if we're giving him a spazzy puppy to tolerate in his old age, but he might not like sharing his space. The pug is a male, about 9 years old, named Winnie, and he's spoiled and pampered as much as Samson.
(We give him a spazzy puppy as a visitor in Roxy instead, which is good for him as it lives him up, but I don't think he'd be very tolerant of that full time :) |

Happy birthday to who is certainly the hottest guy on LJ, sickboy!
Srsly, the man is fine. He is so many other things and is a great friend and makes me laugh too, but I do confess that I stole the picture of him with his shirt off from Facebook and emailed it to Bernice so she could appreciate his prettiness with me :)
Happy birthday Scott! |

[Apr. 25th, 2008|11:01 pm] |

Samson had his annual vet visit for shots today. He was all excited to be in the car, like usual, but once we got inside the door he remembered a pressing appointment for a facial he had and turned around to leave. The vet eyed me and remarked to the tech that she'd have to play pug wrestler, as they are strong little buggers and slippery when they want to be.
And wrestle she did. He was due for his heartworm test and thus had to have blood drawn, which made him decide to scream like he does when he has his nails clipped, which is certainly the most horrible sound on earth, and he was so startled by this that he managed to poop on the table. Jeepers, I was embarassed.
However, the vet was well pleased by the fact that he has lost two pounds, and says he is in good shape and only having issues that are age-related and completely normal. This is news I needed to hear after Mimi's diagnosis. |

One of the things I've gotten steadily better at in my thirties is making friends, a skill I had nothing of before. I think I've finally learned to listen and that helps. Tonight I went for a long walk and coffee with my new friend Jeanna, and I go for walks with kinder182 sometimes who is fabulous, and I just am better at it. I still get scared and hide sometimes, I've never outgrown the social anxiety entirely, but the last year or two it has gotten much easier.
I wish I spoke as well as I wrote sometimes. I don't think I'm a great writer but think I am a good writer, and I wish I could speak as well. Sometimes I think I rave because I'm trying to talk like I write, and that's hard to manage. Also, I like to talk, a lot, and it's hard to get that under control. Which is why I write, really.

Tonight a chickadee came and sat on a branch just an arm's length away from me and regarded me with interest. |

I am totally blown away that it was Carly that got eliminated tonight, and stupid Brooke was safe. lizvang whizbang, I'm sorry, that totally sucked. It should have been Brooke, then Syesha, and then Carly or David A, IMHO.
(but I am so glad Jason is safe even though his Memory performance was not so hot).
Can we get some mentors for AI that are not older folks? Neil Diamond next week, for cripes sake. I hope someone at least does 'Sweet Caroline'. Can we not get, like, somebody current to mentor? |

My dog was just sitting on my lap, having a cuddle while I work, and suddenly burped, which he does all the time, but then proceeded to open his mouth and vomit bile all over my arm and lap. Wasn't it sweet of him to share his reflux with me? :)
Mimi was started on prednisone and other things to help her liver; if it's non-malignant she could live up to two years, but nothing invasive for diagnosis will be done, as she likey won't tolerate anesthetic again. So, we really know nothing, but I hate to see her go downhill. The vet says she is growing cataracts too and is getting hard of hearing. She's only seven.
Samson will be 10 this year, and largely we have been very fortunate in his health. He is clearly arthritic and walks slowly and can't do much stair climbing, and he is getting cataracts too, I believe, as his eyes are dimmer in appearance and he has trouble with depth perception in getting off curbs and going downstairs, but he's still pretty chipper all things considered. I know he won't live forever, but I'd like to keep him around a few more years at least, he's so sweet. I can't imagine life without my Mugs. |

[Apr. 22nd, 2008|07:42 pm] |
My parent's dog, the inimitable Mimi girl, was diagnosed with liver failure today, after a round of copious vomiting and an urgent trip to the vet.
It is uncertain of the cause, hepatitis is one, a malignancy is another. They want to do an ultrasound-guided biopsy, but she had trouble with her last anesthetic and stopped breathing, so it probably isn't wise. They are going to try a course of steroids and see how she does, but the prognosis is obviously not good.
I am very sad about this. I love my rabbit-poop eating Mimi girl. I don't want her to suffer at all.
Anyway. Vote for Jason Castro tonight! The Entertainment Weekly Power List moved him to the number two spot this week, as they are tired too of Archuleta's ballads and moved him down as he was just blah on Mariah week. I think the finale might see Jason at least in second place. I think David Cook has it sewn up to win, and I'm fine with that, but I think Jason deserves to be second at least. |

It is Friday. I have pinot noir and steak and carrot coriander soup for dinner, and am going for a walk with kinder182 along the creek tonight with the Roxinator (who devoted her day to looking for the Perfect Hiding Place for the chewbone I gave her and ran around with it all worried looking until she found it). I am going on the F'ing Wine Tour tomorrow and then out for dinner tomorrow night (can you guess where? of course you can. shut up Bernice :)
I have felt off lately but I feel on again. It's good. It's a good day.
ETA: I changed my mind about dinner; I think we will have roast bichon frise instead. Anyone care to join me? O.o (guess who peed in the house again?) |

[Apr. 16th, 2008|10:01 pm] |
David Archuleta, I still don't want you to win, but you just went up about 10 points in my estimation for having enough humour to sit down on the center of the stage when Ryan (who apparently has been taking torture lessons in the off season) put you on the spot by telling him to go to the group he thought was safe. Excellent response to a terrible position. Ryan Seacrest needs to get spanked by a dominatrix or something until he loses this nasty edge he has lately. Dude, what is with you?
I'm thrilled that not only was Carly not voted off, but not even in the bottom three because she deserves to stay, and I'm also glad that she gave Simon grief for his shitty treatment of her; his pathetic I-want-to-inspire-you-to-new-heights explanation doesn't wash. He was cold and mean and hateful, and it looks good on him that she triumphed tonight. You go, little Irish girl.
(And Jason was safe, which I kinda knew would happen, but I was happy to see it just the same. I think I'll call into the questions for the Idols portion next week and ask if he wants to go to a luau with me *suggestive leer*. I always wanted a 20 year old boy toy ;)
However, I wish it was Brooke who left instead of Kristy, who I think made a better effort to stay overall; Brooke's pouting and stupid comments are getting REALLY OLD. Dear internets, let's vote her off next week, ok? |
